Over fifteen years of producing quality boer goats
Valley Boers was established in 2004 by Thomas Youlden. The stud started with six breeding does and was located in the Yarra Valley, Victoria. It was not long before Valley Boers started having success exhibiting animals producing winners at a state and national level.
In 2012 the stud relocated to Cargo, thirty minutes from Orange in the Central West of New South Wales. The 220 acre land holding is undulating with a temperate climate and an average rain fall of 750mL.
This change saw Valley Boers significantly expand to become one of the largest boer goat studs in Australia. Since then Valley Boers has supplied quality animals within Australia and overseas.
There are two features integral to our animals that differentiate Valley Boers from other studs.
RESILIENCE: The breeding herd is managed under commercial conditions. This means that our animals fight to earn a place in the herd. It is necessary for each animal to be adaptable and withstand diverse environmental conditions.
QUALITY: We focus on our animals consistently producing progeny that have a sound structure, good MEAT carrying capacity whilst maintaining style.
Our goats are tough, stylish and perform in both the show ring and on the farm!
Valley Boers recognised earlier on that producing overweight high maintenance animals compromised best practice farming principals. These farming practices can result in poorer outcomes for customers where animals do not have the versatility and hardiness, which can impact the productivity and profits for customers. Valley Boers is focused on being a business that is productive, sustainable and profitable.
Our customers continue to tell us that they have benefited from the versatility of the animals that we produce. We believe that this approach to stud breeding in Australia will become necessary over the next twenty years, where resilience and quality will be highly valued.
